The ABC challenge

Though I have a longing to sit up and frame up all the thoughts in my mind into a group of sentences, I simply don't do it..owing to the same old excuse of 'Not having time'! But how do I chuck all those excuses and resolve to write more or should I say JUST write?
That's when this ABC challenge caught my eye while going through This Blog
I like challenges and I love writing, so what more do I need to wait for now?

And as the name goes, The challenge is to post an article on every letter starting from A through Z. As simple as that.
I am all set to brave this up. Let's see how this goes!

The country across 4000 miles and its memories…

Part 1 – All that I did up and above the world so high.

I neither was nor am an IT person who craves to go up in the ladder by kicking and killing the so-called ‘peers’. I was and am a normal, happy with what I do, software engineer who does not believe in working late hours to impress the manager.
I did not beg, fight, threaten or bury my manager alive to go to the Onsite. It had to happen, so it did and there I was, all set to start off on the journey that taught me and brought me to my senses in many a ways.
The above was to make the background clear of any doubts.
For a pampered kid like me who has never known what it is like to travel alone, this was one of a kind experience and every single day of that 6-months trip is intricately etched in my heart.
The flight journey was around 23 hours!  The airways that my company had generously booked for me, took me all around the world. I am still arguing with my mom that I saw the Great Wall of China on my way and she says that she knew that I sucked in Geography but not to this extent. But I really did and no one believes me :(
During the first half of my journey I had this co traveler who was a smart surgeon. He was on his way to Sweden. Smart because, the moment he saw me, he found out that it was my first time in the plane. Not that I was revealing too much of my ignorance. Atleast I thought I didn’t.
23 hours and you wouldn’t believe if I told you that I did not flip a single page of a book or listen to a song or even watch a movie that the screen before me showed. So, it was 23 hours of nothing and nothing at all except sleep.  My transit was for nearly 6 hours and I talked to my parents and fiancé for 2 hours. The rest of the time, you should know what I was doing. Sleeping right near the right terminal gate  :)
Do not ask me why I slept so much. I am still trying to figure out.
I finally boarded the second flight after the girl at the mike called out for the economy-class passengers in her. Her English was more weird than her over-done face.
Second half of the journey was..hmm..read on..
Now, Imagine a small, short girl with a scared look on her face being awkwardly packed, squeezed, jammed and sandwiched by two not-so-small guys. You imagined? Yes, the girl was me!
All the way from Thailand to London I remained the source of entertainment for those who saw how I struggled between the fat brothers.
And, hey don’t blame me, I really had nothing to do but sleep with this kind of an atmosphere around me. So yeah, that’s apparently what I did up and above the world so high!
Few other things I did in between my sleep are –
1)      Going to the loo. Not because I HAD to. But because I wanted to see how things work without water up above the sky.  *Winks*.
2)      Eat that thing they called ‘food’.
Please note - Neither the air-hostess nor the food was good. I had to habituate with both for the moment.
3)      Look outside the very small window and get stumped totally.
Sometime back it was so bright and all I saw was pure white.
Now it looks pitch black that it makes me forget what I saw some time back!
Not a great poem, I know. But that’s exactly how I felt. Either I was sleeping too long or the flight was taking me all around the world. Or was it probably both?

Finally, when I got too tired of sleeping, I woke up to realize that it was 7 00 pm in the city below     which was named London and I was to de-board in the next few minutes.
After smiling sweetly at the not-so-small brothers (Believe me, that smile had no sarcasm in it!), I managed my way out and grabbed my 23 kg luggage from the conveyer after a wait that felt like forever.
There they were, my friends happy to receive    me and my big bags (after all they now had a scape goat that laughed for all their lame jokes!!).

Self realisation and the crap!

Today it all dawned on me and I opened this dead blog to realize that my last post was written exactly 2 years back. 2 years? I got to be kidding myself, I know!!
Why have I not been writing and What have I been doing all along?
1)
2)
3)
.
.
.

Well, I really do not want to fool myself and others with some very stupid excuses. I shall just resort to being my old self (old as in – let’s go back on 2 years) and resurrect this poor blog which still has hopes on me.

What to name it?

This post came out of a lot of revelation and shock that I got from something that is equal to oxygen for millions & millions of people– Facebook.  Some funny status updates, some stupid ones, some irritating ones, some realllllyyy silly ones..and a lot more of Oh-My-God stuff made me sit down and write this one after a long long gap!

Most of us have actually forgotten the fact that this social networking was started mainly for networking with friends, relatives, colleagues.  Now, it has become an online portal where you have a lot of space for bragging. Sometimes most of this talking is done to yourself with a minimum of 2 likes from some really sweet hearts that are either dead bored or ‘liking’ this as part of reciprocation.

Don’t you want to read some facepalm status updates that I have come across? The best 7 of the recent past:
  1. Thatha get well soon –Eh? Dear thatha is also on Facebook?  Wouldn’t it have reached the old one even better if you had made a call to him? Out of balance, probably.
  2. No one likes me! – Oh Shit. Sad story right? She had to vent it out on Facebook, you know?
  3.  My brand new cousin. 5 minutes old (With photo)!! – Did the mom have a chance to see the baby’s face first or did she have to directly ‘like’ it on Facebook?
  4. At Andaman for honeymoon – Thank god. The person didn’t get into more details. Not sure what the status was after they returned from ‘THE’ trip
  5. Not cleaned my bike – I am just hoping that he wouldn’t list down the other things that he hasn’t cleaned yet.
  6. At 23, dad got married to his girlfriend :P – Uh? Not sure what is there to ‘:P’ about this. Dad is also on Facebook, I get it. But why not tell him in person? Would have had better ‘effects’ I say. *winks*
  7. My code has gone for testing. Fingers crossed – You know we HAD to know about this.  Phew. I wish I could say, Please go get a life.
  8.  Happy honeymooning:-):-)♥♥  with XXX at Some random beach in a random place - Ewwwwwwww :/. This one happened to catch my attention a week after I published this post. But that doesn't stop me from adding it,right? But..really..This one is any day my personal favorite.
Wow! How do people get ideas to come up with stuff like this.
Oh! How can I forget these self-clicked profile pictures? MOST of them are epic fails and is the hardest attempt to get a number of likes, comments to publicize the self. Even worse are the clicks uploaded directly after the couple has got down from their tour. Oh god..where do you actually get the time for all of these?
Not married yet and I get time for Facebook only once a week :O . With family and stuff coming into picture I really dread it.

Some bizarre facts that you ought to know:
  1. Lamebook.com is a regularly updated site that reports “lame” and funny Facebook user post
  2. 1 in every 13 people on Earth is on Facebook
  3. It is the second biggest website by traffic behind Google (at the moment).
  4. People spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook
  5. Syria, China, Vietnam, and Iran have blocked Facebook. . It started as a precaution against a campaign which is said to promote false teachings about religion & war.]
  6. Facebook Addiction Disorder (FAD) is becoming very common. Soon there would be re rehabilitation centers for this. Mind you, This is my view. (Hey that rhymed!!)
Sometimes these kinds of ‘advertisements’ test my tolerance. But you know it has a positive side also, I get to give a life to my dead blog :)

The 5 types of people in my bus

1. The first and most common are those who fall under the “Sleeper class” category. These people enter their slumber land, the moment they get a seat and you wouldn’t deny if I say that they find utmost comfort ONLY when sleeping on YOUR shoulders!! I could forgive even this..but what about waking them when their stop comes? That is one Herculean task I tell you. It is quite envious to see a person sleeping so peacefully amidst the blaring horns, the barking drivers and these incessant + loud phone lovers.

2. These are the people who are suffering from a deadly disease called the “phone-o-mania”. One would always find these people having a phone stuck to their ear. I really wonder who pays their bills! But these people are easily better than the ones which have a Bluetooth headset clinging to their ears, a bunch of hair hiding this tiniest of equipments and fooling the silly ones like me sitting next to them. Happy to get a company for the 1 hour travel, people like me get carried away so easily and would probably be sitting and answering them for the never-intended questions. We most often stop only if we get a glare or two from the maniacs.
AND, stop sympathizing at us, even WE have friends. Just that they don’t feel like calling us when we are traveling by bus, for reasons unknown. Oh No please don’t mistake this for a self-consolation.

3. The “book-worms”. This is the most intelligent category or so they pose. These usually sport the geeky looks and would generally be avoided or feared by the usual, ordinary, so-so people. The curious-me always wants to ask them, “How do you read with SO much of concentration when the bus moves a little while it shakes!?! :O”
P.S. If you haven’t smiled a little for the last sentence, please read it again. If you still haven’t smiled, well that’s not my problem any more.

4. These people would always be lost in their own world. I could conveniently call them the “day-dreamers”.  This is the set which would either be looking out of the window smiling to themselves or would be blindly staring at something or even someone, usually with a long face. I don’t have much to tell about this category because they are the most un-interesting people of the bus. When I stare at them for too long, I usually end up feeling sorry for them for no reason at all.

5. “Silent-observers”. These are people who sit back and enjoy the whole journey looking at everyone around and thinking if this could make up the next post for their miserably-abandoned blog.

A love that knows no bounds..

‘She’, the world’s best mom is turning 45 today. This..is a small gift to her, an ode to the eternal love, a tribute to the tenderness, a salute to the strength, a thanks-giving to the patience and lots more that mere words can’t even attempt to explain.

Her magical touch that sets everything right, her mellow words that soothes every heart, her effortless encouragement whenever I feel lost and not to forget..those incessant advices that she keeps giving me now and then..I’ve always awed at all of this! If only there was a way to repay all that she has done to me!!

I sometimes feel that there can never be a better teacher than her..When I was 2, I fell every time I stood and she taught me how to walk. When I was 5, I cried for silly things and she taught me happiness. When I was 8, I lied to her and bunked school and she taught me honesty. When I was 14 I screamed at her for no fault of hers and she taught me patience. When I was 18, I spent all her money for my happiness and she taught me frugality. Now when I am 22, she teaches me life! And I know that, this is neither the end for her teaching nor the end for my learning.

And yes we aren’t always sweet to each other. We fight like kids, we argue for stupid things, we yell at each other..yet we know, no one can love us any better.
She is the first person I came to know in this big world and ever since, I’ve cherished her and always will!!

A tickle to the kid in her, a big hi5 to the friend in her and a sweet kiss to the mother in her.
Happy b’day my dear mom..hope u have a long, healthy and happy life.
 Love u ma!

Gone are those days

There IS a reason behind the long break between the last post and this one. And frankly speaking it’s because I didn’t know what to write about. Now, while just sitting before my comp and reading some really interesting blogs, I got this sudden spree to write about ‘something’. Something that is a real come-back..but would it really be one? Well, who cares!
After pondering for more than 10 whole minutes, I decided to write about what has been happening in my life (Ah no! it IS NOT an auto biography. I would never do that!!)
And what has been happening in my life? -- Change! Like everyone says, it is change..the only constant in life.
I am hardly 22 and there have been so many changes. Changes that I couldn’t digest, changes that I badly needed and some changes that changed nothing at all.
I really wonder how it has all easily and rapidly changed from play school to school..from school to college and now, from college to the so-called professional life!Changing four different schools, moving from school to college, making new friends each time, adjusting to new environments, new teachers, new rules.. None of this affected me. Everything seemed so simple and easy.
But now! This ever-serious work place, this small team of ten people with a huge set of most contradicting ideas, THE manager (Well..I don’t feel like giving any adjectives there!!) , those special rules that are never said but should be followed and.. the most difficult maturity that I am still trying to gain. All of it is so difficult and makes me say “Gone are those beautiful days and Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up!”
